Is it stupid of me to do this?

I'm buyin a deluxe fat strat. but the reason i want it is for the humbucker that lets it be versatile and play some heavier stuff. but the problem is that i want to get it with the maple fretboard. does the maple fretboard take away from the versatility. So i want be able to play some heavy stuff along with some bluesy stuff.
