2003 Mitsubishi Galant (4 Cyl.) turns off when I hit the brakes. Why?

Yesterday my car starting turning off on me while idle and my foot off the gas pedal. I had to drive him with my foot constantly on the brake and the gas. As soon as i took my foot off the gas it turned off immediately. It has not trouble starting, just won't stay on. What can be the problem?
