What is Polynesian Mana?

I know at least in New Zealand, the Maori use of Mana these days is of pride, honour, respect, prestige and power, both on an individual and collective level. This harks back to its historical use. Historically, Mana was also considered to be a "spiritual essence" that resided within people. Therefore, to cause harm to someone was to harm their Mana. In warfare, a conquering chief would eat the eyes and tongue of the conquered chief to acquire his Mana and increase his own. However, we are not so backward and naive to think that it is "magic" that powers video games - not sure what you're going with there.
